What Tres Trapi actually is
The name means “three steps” in Papiamento. The steps drop you straight into clear water over a seagrass patch where turtles graze most mornings. There is no sand and no shade — this is a swim stop, not a beach day.
Rules that matter
- Look, never touch: keeping distance from turtles is both the law and basic decency.
- Reef-safe sunscreen only — the oxybenzone ban applies here especially.
- Water shoes help; the steps and rocks are slick at the edges.
- Go before 9 a.m. — by mid-morning the boat groups arrive and the magic thins.
