Flamingo Beach Aruba is the island’s most photographed spot — and its most misunderstood. The flamingos do not roam public beaches. They live on Renaissance Island, a private island, and getting there takes one of two tickets. Here is exactly how it works.

The two ways onto Flamingo Beach
- Stay at the Renaissance Wind Creek Resort — island access comes free with your room.
- Buy a Renaissance Island day pass — sold at the hotel when occupancy allows, and it sells out fast.
What the visit is really like
The famous birds live on the adults-only side, wading between sunbeds and posing like professionals. Feed them from your palm, take the photo, then claim a palapa. Additionally, the island has a family beach, a restaurant, and genuinely good snorkeling along the mangroves.
Tips for the perfect flamingo morning
- Go on a weekday and arrive on the first water taxi — photos before the crowds.
- Passes are limited: ask the concierge one day ahead, not at 9 a.m. that morning.
- Bring water shoes; the lagoon side is shell-sharp.
- No pass available? Several flamingo-spotting tours visit spots where wild flamingos sometimes appear.
