Hyatt Regency Aruba: The Family Resort, Honestly Reviewed

The Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa & Casino is the Palm Beach stalwart families ask us about most. It has held its spot for decades for a reason — and it has trade-offs the brochures skip. Here is our honest local take.

Why families keep choosing the Hyatt Regency Aruba

  • Multiple pools including a water slide — the afternoon babysitter every parent appreciates.
  • Separate adults and family pools, so honeymooners and toddlers coexist peacefully.
  • Hyatt Camp kids club plus wildlife encounters on the lagoon-style grounds.
  • Cooking classes and cultural activities that actually teach some Aruba.
  • An 11,200-square-foot casino — 192 slots and 12 tables — for after bedtime.

Who it suits — and who should skip it

Book it for a classic full-service family week where the resort does the entertaining. Meanwhile, couples chasing quiet should look at the low-rise strip instead, because the Hyatt’s energy is its feature, not a bug.

The honest cons

  • High-season pool chairs go early — the towel game is real.
  • Dining on property is convenient but priced like it; our food guide pays for itself in two dinners.
  • It is a big, busy resort — introverts will feel the buzz.

Booking it smart

Family suites and connecting rooms sell out first for school holidays, so book those windows early. Compare live dates on Expedia against the official site, and consider August for summer value. Planning the week around it? Our family vacation guide and toddler guide slot right in.

Convinced? Rates swing widely by season here — always compare first.

The pools and grounds

The Hyatt sits on 12 acres of gardens with a multi-level lagoon-style pool complex, waterfalls, a two-story water slide and the swim-up Balashi Bar. Black swans and koi live in the ponds, which keeps small kids entertained between swims.

Rooms and the Regency Club

After a multi-million-dollar renovation, the Hyatt has roughly 360 rooms, including 16 suites. Regency Club rooms add a private lounge with breakfast, evening appetizers and house beer and wine, plus a dedicated concierge; note that the Club charges extra per child.

Where to eat on property

  • Ruinas del Mar: the signature restaurant, set among stone ruins-style walls and ponds, with seafood and a strong breakfast buffet.
  • Piet’s Pier: one of Aruba’s few over-the-water bars, and the pier where several sunset sails depart. See our sunset cruise guide.
  • Beachfront and swim-up bars for lunch without changing out of your swimsuit.

Location

The Hyatt sits in the heart of Palm Beach, so restaurants, shops and the main strip are a short walk away and the water-sports piers are right outside. Expect about 20 to 25 minutes to the airport.
