The Best Sunset Spots in Aruba (Ranked by Locals)

Last updated: August 25, 2026

Aruba faces west, sits in the tropics, and almost never has clouds — which means the sunset is guaranteed and the only question is where to watch it. These are the island’s best seats, ranked by a page that has seen a lot of them.

1. Eagle Beach at the Fofoti Trees

The classic for a reason: the windswept trees in silhouette against a burning sky, wide sand, and room for everyone. Arrive 40 minutes early, bring a drink, stay for the afterglow — the colors peak ten minutes after the sun disappears.

2. From the Water — A Sunset Sail

The only view better than sunset over the sea is sunset from it. Catamarans depart the Palm Beach piers nightly with open bars, and watching the whole coastline turn gold from offshore is the single most-booked evening on the island — book ahead in high season.

3. The California Lighthouse Bluff

The island’s highest, widest panorama: the entire west coast at your feet as the sun drops into the sea. Pair it with a drink at the terrace restaurant beside the lighthouse or just park on the bluff. Golden hour up here is the best free show in Aruba.

4. A Beach Bar Front Row on Palm Beach

Happy hour timed to sunset, toes in the sand, zero effort. The pier bars fill early — claim a table by 5pm in winter — and the people-watching is half the entertainment.

5. Dinner in the Sand

For occasions: torch-lit tables on the beach at Passions or Barefoot, timed so the main course lands as the sky goes pink. Reserve the front row days ahead — honeymooners book these out (see the honeymoon guide).

The Local Rules of Sunset

Sunset runs roughly 6:15–7:00pm year-round — the tropics don’t do long evenings, so don’t be late. The green flash is real here on clear nights; watch the last sliver of sun. And the best photos come after the sun is gone, when everyone else has already packed up.

Eagle Beach, one of the best Aruba sunset spots

Aruba sunset spots: how to pick yours

Choosing between Aruba sunset spots comes down to mood. Want toes in the sand? Then Eagle Beach or Manchebo wins. Prefer a view with height? In that case, climb toward the California Lighthouse. Better yet, get on the water — because a sunset sail chases the light past the coastline. For golden-hour timing, check sunset times for Oranjestad before you go. Afterwards, dinner: our restaurant guide lists the tables that face the show.

Want the sunset from the water? A private sunset charter is the splurge version, and group sunset sails start around $59 with free cancellation.
