Aruba UTV Tours: North Coast Routes, Prices & Which Tour to Book

A UTV tour is the fastest way to see the half of Aruba that a rental car cannot reach: the dirt tracks of the north coast, the Bushiribana gold mill ruins, Alto Vista Chapel, the Natural Bridge area and the wild east-coast beaches. You drive yourself, a guide leads the convoy, and you are back on the beach by early afternoon. It is loud, dusty and enormous fun. Here is how to pick the right one.

What a typical route looks like

  1. Pickup and briefing near Palm Beach or at the operator’s base in Noord. Helmets and goggles handed out; the guide explains hand signals.
  2. Alto Vista Chapel, the small yellow chapel on the north coast, then dirt tracks along the cliffs to the Bushiribana gold mill ruins.
  3. Natural bridge area and the Ayo or Casibari rock formations, depending on the tour.
  4. East-coast stops outside the national park, such as Andicuri Beach or the Natural Bridge area. UTVs, ATVs and motorbikes have been banned inside Arikok National Park since 2020, so a tour that advertises the Natural Pool either moves you into a 4×4 for that leg or skips it.
  5. Full-day tours add a lunch stop and a beach swim, often at Baby Beach or Arashi, before the drive back.

Local tip

Book the earliest departure. Morning tours beat the heat and the afternoon wind, and the first convoy of the day eats far less dust.

Half day or full day?

Half-day tours (three to four hours) cover the north coast highlights and a beach stop. They suit cruise passengers and anyone who wants the afternoon free for the beach. Full-day tours add more of the east coast, lunch and a swim stop; they make sense if this is your one adventure day and you want to see the whole east side without renting a car. If you are deciding between a full-day UTV and a half-day UTV plus a catamaran cruise, take the second option: two different halves of Aruba beat one long, dusty one.

Things to know before you book

  • Licence and age: drivers need a valid licence; minimum age is set by the operator and is often 18 for drivers, lower for passengers. Check the listing.
  • Kids: most operators allow children as passengers from around 5-6 years in a four-seater. Under that age, choose a jeep tour instead.
  • Clothes: you will be coated in fine white dust. Wear closed shoes and things you do not mind washing. Sunglasses or goggles are essential, and a bandana over your mouth helps in the convoy.
  • Pregnancy, back and neck problems: the tracks are rough. Operators exclude pregnant riders and advise against it for anyone with back issues; a jeep tour is the softer ride.
  • Damage deposit: some operators hold a credit-card deposit against damage. Read the terms and drive within the convoy’s pace.
  • Cash: lunch and drinks at the beach stop are usually not included on half-day tours; the guide’s tip is customary.

Is a UTV tour worth it?

Yes, if you want to see the wild side of the island and you like driving. It is the single most-booked activity in Aruba after the catamaran cruises for a reason: the north coast is dramatic, the rugged east side is spectacular, and neither is reachable in a normal rental car. It is not worth it if you dislike noise and dust, if you are travelling with toddlers, or if you would rather look than drive: in those cases the jeep tour goes to the same places in comfort.

Pair it with

A catamaran cruise on another day for the water half of the island, a rinse-off swim at Arashi Beach on the way home, and dinner in Noord, which is where most UTV bases are. If you are staying near Palm Beach, pickup is quick; from Eagle Beach allow an extra 15 minutes.

Quick answers

Do you need a licence for a UTV tour in Aruba?
Yes, the driver needs a valid driver’s licence. Passengers do not.
Can kids ride on a UTV tour?
Most operators take children as passengers in four-seat vehicles from about 5-6 years old, with a helmet. Minimum ages vary, so check the listing before booking. Toddlers should go on a jeep tour instead.
Does the UTV tour go to the Natural Pool?
No. The Natural Pool is inside Arikok National Park, and UTVs, ATVs and motorbikes have been banned from the park since 2020. Some combo tours move you into a 4×4 for that leg; otherwise book a jeep tour for the Natural Pool.
How dirty do you get?
Very. Expect white dust on everything. Wear old clothes, closed shoes and sunglasses, and plan a swim afterwards.
UTV or jeep tour for a cruise day?
Both work. A half-day UTV tour is the more exciting choice; a jeep tour is easier if you are a group with mixed ages. Either way, pick a tour that states a return time well before all-aboard.
