Boca Catalina Aruba is barely a cove — a pocket of white sand between Malmok’s rocks — yet it delivers some of the easiest, fishiest shore snorkeling on the island. If your dream is stepping off sand into an aquarium, start here.

What makes this cove special
The water is shallow, glassy, and full of sergeant majors, parrotfish, and the occasional turtle. Because the cove is small, fish concentrate rather than scatter. Entry is simple from the sand, though water shoes help on the rocky edges.
Know before you go
- Palapas are few — arrive early or bring an umbrella.
- No facilities: pack water, snacks, and everything else.
- Catamaran groups anchor offshore mid-morning; go before 10 a.m. for the cove to yourself.
- Tres Trapi, the famous turtle steps, sits a short walk south.
Making a morning of it
Combine Boca Catalina with Arashi and Malmok for the classic north-coast snorkel crawl — three stops, one rental car, zero tickets. Prefer a guide and gear included? The snorkel sails cover this exact coastline. Full context in our snorkeling tours guide.
